Communication Is the Most Important Skill in the modern world.

Man lives in a community and needs other people to survive. Beings who work together need to express and appreciate the expressions of each other.

The cavemen did not have the rudiments of communication, so they used sign language and communicated their ideas by making carvings along the walls of caves. 

Civilizations have started and collapsed depending upon how effective they were at maintaining sound ties with the rest of the world.

Communication is transmitting knowledge from one location to another. It is like the lubricant that helps the machinery of civilization to operate smoothly.

The communication mechanism includes

  7. Input.

Types of Communication

Oral/verbal contact includes the use of language, the spoken word either face-to-face or via a phone, voice chat, video conferencing, or some other tool.

Oral contact is either informal coming from the rumor mill and grapevine or formal communications as in seminars, conferences, and other formal talks.

The basis of language formation is based on age group, class, gender, geographical group, occupation, and other social elements. Language was said to be derived from sounds and movements.

Nonverbal Communication

Nonverbal communication is the physical form of communication that includes body movement, scent, tone of voice, and touch.

Under aesthetic and imaginative nonverbal contact are dancing, music, sculpturing and singing. Others are:

  • Body language from body posture and physical contact convey a lot of knowledge.
  • Physical contact (shaking hands, pulling, etc.), facial expressions, gestures, and eye contact are all different ways of communication.
  • Written correspondence includes the written words that are a crucial tool for business purposes. Only remember the importance of posts, e-mails, memos, and reports in the business world.
  • Visual communication is the presentation of knowledge directed to the eyes and other senses,  designs, photography, signs, symbols, and topography. Television and video clips are the electronic media of visual communication.
