The Georgia Supreme Court has rejected a legal attempt by former President Donald Trump to halt the Fulton County criminal investigation into his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.
In a unanimous decision, the court stated that Trump had not demonstrated the "extraordinary circumstances" necessary for their intervention.
Although this legal challenge was dismissed, Trump still faces other pending legal battles related to the Fulton County criminal investigation.
Trump had requested the court to dismiss the evidence collected in the investigation and prevent state prosecutors from using it in future proceedings.
However, the court dismissed the petition, emphasizing that Trump had not presented sufficient grounds for their involvement.
The investigation, led by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, is expected to reach charging decisions soon.
Mr Trump has consistently denied any wrongdoing and has accused the prosecutors of targeting him to undermine his potential 2024 presidential campaign.
