F-22 Fighter Jets To Middle East To Deter 'unsafe' Russian Aircraft - US Air Force

In an effort to deter what has been described as "unsafe and unprofessional" behavior by Russian aircraft in the Middle East, the US Air Force has deployed F-22 Raptor jets, according to the US military's Central Command.

The F-22 Raptor jets are fifth-generation stealth fighters and represent some of the most advanced aircraft in the US Air Force's arsenal.

This deployment comes as the US expresses growing concerns over increasingly aggressive actions by Russian pilots in the vicinity of American troops operating alongside Kurdish forces in northern Syria. General Michael Kurilla, commander of Centcom, stated that the Russian forces' behavior is not befitting that of a professional air force.

The repeated violations of agreed-upon airspace deconfliction measures by Russian forces raise the risk of potential escalation or miscalculation, which is a cause for concern.

Working in coordination with partners and allies, the US remains committed to enhancing security and stability in the region, as stated by General Kurilla.

The F-22s deployed for this mission originate from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. These highly capable aircraft possess the ability to deliver substantial and rapid force when required, providing a significant deterrent factor, according to Centcom.
